Lou is an AI you text that finds you things to do. To do that well it has to learn about you, so this page says plainly what Lou collects, what it does with it and what it never does. Lou is run by Ryan Pate ("we"). Questions go to hi@outwithlou.com.

What Lou collects

• Your phone number and your texts with Lou, including photos you send.
• What Lou learns about you from those texts: what you like, when you're usually free, where you're based, and how past plans went.
• Your location, only when you choose to share it, through a link Lou sends or a shortcut you set up.
• Google data, only if you connect Google: read-only access to your Gmail and access to your calendar (see below).
• Purchases you approve: what was bought, from whom, for how much, and the confirmation.
• Sign-in sessions on sites where you ask Lou to book for you, kept so Lou stays signed in as you.
• Waitlist: if you join, your number and when you joined.

How Lou uses it

Only to be useful to you: picking things you'll like, timing them around your schedule, booking what you say yes to, and following up afterward. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the services below that make Lou work.

Payments

Purchases go through Stripe's Link. You approve each one in Link before anything is charged, and Lou pays with a one-time card Link creates for that purchase. Lou never sees or stores your card number. You're the buyer, and the seller's own terms and refund policy apply.

Google data

If you connect Google, Lou reads Gmail (read-only) to find plans you've already made, booking confirmations and login codes for purchases you asked for, and the local newsletters you get. It uses your calendar to see when you're free and to add plans you've said yes to. Lou never sends, deletes or changes your email.

Lou's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide Lou's features to you, is never used for advertising, is never sold, and is never used to train AI models that aren't specific to you. No person reads it unless you ask us to, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.

Services that help run Lou

• Cloudflare hosts Lou and stores its data.
• Anthropic provides the AI models that read your messages and write Lou's replies.
• Sendblue delivers texts.
• Stripe (Link) handles payments.
• Browserbase runs the browser Lou uses to book things for you.
• Google, if you connect it.

Each gets only what it needs to do its part.

Keeping and deleting it

Lou keeps what it learns while you use it. Login codes relayed to Lou are deleted within minutes. Text Lou "delete my data" or email us and we'll delete your account, your history and your saved sign-ins within 30 days. You can disconnect Google or Link at any time from their account settings.

Texts

Reply STOP to stop all texts from Lou, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We don't share your number with anyone for marketing.

Kids

Lou is for people 18 and over.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, Lou will tell you before it takes effect.
